Chauvin was later charged with second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter.

In April 2021, he was found guilty on all counts and sentenced to 22.5 years in prison.
The other three officers faced charges related to aiding and abetting murder and manslaughter.
