Similar to Ferguson, details of Keoghans role are being kept under wraps.
The epic continuation of the multi-award-winning saga has been written by the shows creator, Steven Knight.
He will produce alongside Caryn Mandabach, Murphy and Guy Heeley.
Exec producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason.
The movie will be made in association with BBC Film.
Production is expected to begin this year.
Hes next up inBring Them Down, which will premiere at TIFF on September 9.
