You dont really hear much of that kind of old-school voice-over.

Mine were just kickass bombastic, all balls out, full music.

Stop, just go, go, go.

I dont know if its too much.

I said, well, thats the style.

Thats how we used to cut reels in the 80s.

We just threw everything at you.'

I was becoming kind of the top editor at Kaleidoscope Films, recalled Coulter.

I did a bunch of trailers that year for big movies.

Are you available this weekend?

We have this movieBeverly Hills Copand another editor cut a trailer.

We need a trailer badly.'

I said, sure Ill do it, Coulter continued.

You have to remember, this was 1984, so we were working on film.

I was working on my Moviola.

There were 12 reels, separated picture and sound.

The picture was black and white because the studios didnt spend money to give us a color print.

So they basically made a duplicate black and white print.

And then the sound was on a separate reel.

I said, Well, perfect.

Ill just cut to this song.

So I didnt have to look for music.

I started cutting right away on Saturday, and I finished it pretty early Sunday.

I think it was one of my very few, version one finishes.

There was no need to change anything.

I had a blast putting this thing together.

Heres Coulters original trailer, followed by the trailer forBeverly Hills Cop2.

See the throwback one above.
