When Roshan finally arrived, he was mobbed by the crowd.
The reaction was unsurprising.
His films have grossed over $600 million over a two-decade career.

HRITHIK ROSHAN:In the beginning, it used to unnerve me because Im a very shy person.
I grew up with a stutter.

I was very reticent, but I wanted to be an actor.
On the global stage, Pakistan and India have a fraught relationship.
Do you think Bollywood stars have a role in connecting the two nations and cultures?
ROSHAN:So this is a rumor that has been going on for the last 10 or 15 years.
I am interested in doing good films.
But its not something that I am abandoning my current work for.
Its not something that Im pursuing 100%.
Im here to learn.
I love being a student.
I love being around people who know more than me.
And thats something that I will look forward to.
DEADLINE:This past year, the box office in India has struggled.
Why do you think it didnt draw audiences to the cinemas?
During the pandemic, people were hungry for content.
They were consuming everything, and it didnt matter what language.
It had already been consumed.
It was bad luck, but I think it was a good film.
DEADLINE:Whats next for you?
This film is based on the Indian Air Force, so Im playing a pilot.
And yes, of course, the moment I say that what comes to mind isTop Gun.
And yes,Top Gunis a film that inspired us all.
That was the original.
Were basing this film on a fictitious story but against the backdrop of real-life events.
DEADLINE:As you move into the next stage of your career, what will be your guiding principles?
ROSHAN:Im in a space where I want to break the rules.
I want to do films that stir something inside me.
I want to be wrong because that is where you find growth.
So I want to do something fun and not take myself too seriously.
