EXCLUSIVE:Independent Artist Grouphas signed filmmakerShuchi Talati, ahead of the world premiere of her first feature,Girls Will Be Girls, at theSundanceFilm Festival.
Premiering in World Cinema Dramatic Competition, the romantic drama written and directed by Talati is set at an elite boarding school in a small Himalayan hill town in northern India and follows the story of Mira, a 16-year-old girl whose rebellious sexual awakening is hijacked by her mother who never got to come of age.

Shuchis previous scripted work includes the short filmPeriod Piece, about an afternoon of period sex, which premiered at SXSW 2020, and the shortMae and Ash, which won numerous awards before becoming a Vimeo Staff Pick.

Shuchi is a graduate of the American Film Institute and is also a member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective, the Bitchitra Collective, and the Freelance Solidarity Project.
An alum of Berlinale Talents, her work has been supported by grants and awards from Srfond, Aide Aux Cinemas du Monde, New York State Council, Region Ile-de-France, and others.
