But it really allows you the time for things to unfold.
So, what are we supposed to do with that?
Masons legal firm partner responds.

‘Perry Mason’MAX
DEADLINE:The second season ofPerry Masonreally saw an evolution of the character.
We had theCharlies Angelsmoment with him at the end of Season 1.
He was in the office.

‘Perry Mason’HBO
All in the garden is rosy and golden and you think everything is on ascent.
He realizes the judicial system isnt what he thought it might have been.
He realizes hes not the lawyer that he thought he might have been or could be.
His world is crumbling around him.
I wanted to see how he deals with that.
Its not so much an arc.
Its more of a vertical ascent, but thats what I was interested in.
What has that been like?
Were all very likeminded, we all know that the work comes first.
Everyone is very accepting and very bracing as were the writers.
And so, I think everyone strove for that.
We all know, youre only as good as you scene partner.
So, its all about hitting the ball back across the net to see what they do with it.
Jonathan character in Season 1.
I know that working with him was a great treat for you.
In many ways EB is still a character in Season 2, as he looms so large.
What was Johns absence like for you?
DEADLINE:From that, youre playing a character who for many people is so iconic.
What do you think is the advantages of that in terms of a format?
But, it really allows you the time for things to unfold.
RHYS:Well, you dont feel rushed or burdened with the speed of narrative really.
RHYS:The milk bottle scene?
DEADLINE:Yes, theres so much visual information in it.
You look at the paper, you take that swig from the milk bottle.
It set the stage, just like it was supposed to.
It said, hes here and this is happening now.
You know what I mean?
RHYS:Oh yeah, yes.
Thats when I think were best is when were doing an incredible amount of storytelling in basically one shot.
That for me is a measure of success.
RHYS:Dominic, I was very fortunate on this show.
I think the concern of coming back to Season 2 is youre never quite sure whether you should repeat.
Both can be equally as dangerous.
What they had to pitch I thought was great.
Jack and Michael had an immense amount of layers that they want to build the conflict.
Conflict not just within everyone, but with each other.
I think there was a great deal of gallows humor that could belong to Mason.
DEADLINE:It was highly effective actually.
There was a levity I think the show needed also because we deal with such at times dark materials.
It was executed very deftly and subtly in a way which I thought felt right.
But, thats what I think of the wholePerry Masonexperience, you know.
