I give all the power to the queens, theyre what keeps this show especially fresh.

Dont get me wrong, we have an incredible producing team and an incredible story team.

The audience relates to them and learns from them.

Its a multi-generational experience.

We also have this incredibly engaged audience.RuPauls Drag Raceis one of the most socially active shows on television.

You literally get people clutching their pearls, covering their mouths, falling to the ground.

I mean, its really intense.

I think this year the queens, again, were the primary purpose.

They were such an incredible, intoxicating group and their chemistry and their talent was amazing.

And we tried to keep the competition going to the very, very last minute.

RuPaul will say, I make a political statement every time I batt a false eyelash.

So, its not like just bybeingdrag queens are political.

We wantDrag Raceto be an escape from a lot of the divisiveness of whats going on.

So, we came up with the idea of power.

RuPaul said, Dont make it feel like homework.

Draw people to you, be more of an attraction than a promotion.

Has that been something that has impacted the queens or the show?

Over the years, so much has been revealed, and theyre not being drama queens.

Theyre telling their truth, theyre telling their story.

And I think that is the most powerful way to relate to people.

Politically, because were such shiny, bright, undeniable figures, we can be a target.

And its not like were expressing ourselves while hurting somebody.

Kindness and love are so important.

I worry every year, because no one wanted the show when we pitched it 16 years ago.

Thats where we started.
