Seth Rudetsky, ‘The Last of Us ‘with Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlet, and the Linda Ronstadt record ‘Long, Long Time’Getty/HBO
On January 29, the episode titled Long, Long Time debuted.
Within an hour, Spotify says, streams of the song jumped a massive 4,900%.
And he said ithadto be a show tune.

And then I said, I have more if you want.
He said, send me more, so I sent him more.
And thats when I wrote, well, no then, you cant use the one fromCarnival!
its called HerFace, so that cant happen.
So then he sent me the scenario.
So I said, all right, well, my favorite devastating song is Long, Long Time.
[Later] he wrote, Oh my god, this song!
And that was it.
That was Feb. 3, two years ago, and then I really just forgot about it.
I mean, it was just like one of our regular text exchanges.
And I was like,what?
I didnt see the episode because and this is so showbiz I was doing a concert with Chita Rivera.
You know, just a concert with Broadway legend Chita Rivera.
So I didnt know what was happening.
Like, every single journalist has picked it up.
Ive been in the business for 25 years and Ive never gotten such amazing publicity.
Well, thank you so much.
And Im like,I know.
As much as I love Broadway, I love so many other things.
I just love talented people.
But the point my favorite thing is telling people, Do you understand how amazing this thing is?
And its not just belting, its emotional.
Its like in Yiddish ageschrei,or what Irish people might call keening.
Its an emotional cry.
She is begging this person to just acknowledge her even so you can reject her.
Its the lowest form of rejection, and I think we can all identify with that.
I think everyone has their version of that.
ON WHETHER RONSTADTS RETIREMENT ADDS ADDITIONAL POIGNANCE
That makes me too sad to think about.
It actually makes me cry when you asked that.
I hope people are just loving how talented she is.
