Major jobs gains were in health care, government and construction.

Average hourly earnings increased by 12 cents, or 0.3%, to $34.69.

The past two months of job gains also were revised upward by 22,000.

Jobs in broadcasting and among content providers fell by 2,300, to 341,500.

There have been some recent signs, though, that consumer perception of economic conditions has shifted a bit.

Most encouraging is that despite the job gains, labor supply is keeping pace, thanks to robust immigration.

The tight labor market and wage growth continue to ease.

Indeed, wage growth is already consistent with current productivity growth and the Feds inflation target.

The Fed should be cutting rates.

But OK, policymakers want proof positive that inflation is headed to target.

They should get that in the next month, two or three.

Thats 15 million more people who have the dignity and respect that comes with a paycheck.
